RIDES

Birky Challenge

June 2, 8am

  • The ride begins at Grace Christian Church, 1596 4th Street.
  • Start in Fond du Lac and enjoy the beauty of the Kettle Moraine.
  • The ride honors fallen Fond du Lac Police Officer Craig Birkholz, with proceeds benefitting law enforcement and military charities.
  • Ride 20, 40, or 67 miles.

GROUP RIDES

Rides will resume in May. Here is a preview of what will be happening. See the opportunities below. Also check out Fondy Area Cycling on Facebook for timely updates.

Monday Morning – Loop Friends Ride

  • Meet at north end of Prairie Trail Park and Ride
  • 7 am, beginning on May 22
  • Medium pace (14–16 mph): 17–23 miles toward Johnsburg and back
  • Easy pace (under 13 mph):  8–12 miles on the Loop

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday – Morning Misfits

  • Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 5:15 am
  • Meet at the intersection of 4th and Hwy K
  • Saturday and Sunday rides (later departure): see Facebook Fondy Area Cycling, or if a Redline member, check email.
  • 18–20 mph

Tuesday  Seven Hills Bike Group

  • Challenging, intense ride for high-level, competitive cyclists.
  • 1820 mph
  • Rides leave from the corner of 4th and K anywhere from 45:30 pm depending on daylight.

Wednesday Morning –
Fond du Lac Senior Center Monthly Bike Rides (These were the rides in 2017. Check back for upcoming 2018 rides beginning in May.)

  • Enjoy the outdoors with a wonderful group of people, while staying active! Rides start at 10:30 am. Open to Seniors and friends/relatives of all ages. A 50 cent donation is requested. Call 322-3630 to sign up. Bring water to stay hydrated and money if you would like lunch. Rain date is the following day.
  • Wednesday, July 19   Meet at the Wild Goose Trail on Rolling Meadows Drive. Ride leaves at 10:30 am. We will ride six miles to Oakfield. While in Oakfield, you have the option of grabbing a burger if you wish. Rain date: July 20.
  • Wednesday, August 16   Meet in Eden on Reagan Drive by the trail. Please call the Fond du Lac Senior Center (920) 322-3630 if you need directions. The ride will be a 10-mile minimum.
  • Wednesday, September 20   Meet at the DeNeveu Shelter in Lakeside Park. Riders will decide on the route that day.
  • Wednesday, October 18   TBA

Thursday  Lomira Ride, aka Fondy Worlds

Leaving from Buttermilk Creek Park, 31.5 mile round trip to Lomira.

Level 1

  • Pace: 20+mph
  • Group leaves at 5:15 pm. This ride started in April and will continue through the summer.
  • Pre-determined sprints during the last 810 miles. Starting after Brownsville, there are a series of town markers and stop-ahead signs where riders practice a sprint finish similar to a road or criterium bike race.  (Average speed beginning to end at peak 2224 mph)

Level 3

  • Pace:  1517 mph
  • Group leaves at 5 pm, beginning on May 25.

RUNS

It’s Fun to Run Youth Run

Saturday, May 5 – 1pm, Buttermilk Creek Park

  • This FREE event, sponsored by the Fond du Lac Running Club, is for children from Pre-K to Grade 5.
  • Find the specific times for your child’s event by visiting the Running Club’s website.

Salute the Troops – Lakeside Park

Saturday, May 26 – Half Marathon, 5K, and Children’s Race

  • Proceeds will benefit veterans and their families in Fond du Lac, Dodge, and Sheboygan counties.

Loop Run sponsored by the Fond du Lac Running Club

  • Sundays, May through December (weather permitting), 7:00am
  • Location: Meet in the Southeast corner of the Festival Foods parking lot in Fond du Lac, 1125 E. Johnson Street.
  • Entry: Free and open to the public

We will be running on the Loop/Prairie Trail along Highway 151. On average most have been going 46 miles at various paces. The weekly group runs are free and open to the public.

A water cooler and cups will be provided at the end of the run. If you feel you need more than water, please bring it. In case of bad weather, someone from the club will still be at the meeting area for those who still come to run. Use your best judgment if the weather looks to be bad. Please dress appropriately based on the weather and have extra/dry clothes with you. Everyone will need to sign a waiver the first time you show up which will cover each week you run with us at this location.

WALKS

Loop Walk with Holy Family Cathletics

  • Holy Family welcomes all community members and visitors to meet up and make new friends while walking. Babies in strollers through seniors are encouraged to attend.
  • Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 7:45–8:30 am
  • Meet at Holy Family, 271 Fourth Street Way, in the Gathering Space
  • We will walk across the new bridge to the Loop and enjoy a walk and camaraderie.
